La versión bíblica Dios Habla Hoy fue creada en 1966 por una comisión de estudiosos bíblicos de diferentes confesiones cristianas con el fin de lograr una versión popular, que alcanzara el mayor número de lectores posible y redactada en un español sencillo para que todos puedan comprender la Palabra de Dios.
Es un texto ecuménico que busca restaurar la unidad de los cristianos de diferentes confesiones religiosas.
Para crear esta versión de la Biblia, se utilizó como fuente para el Antiguo Testamento el texto masotérico. Para el Nuevo Testamento se tomaron como base varias ediciones en griego.
