Via zoekacties worden relevante artikelen gezocht in de Cochrane Library, Clinical Evidence, Embase en PubMed (Medline). Ook worden andere richtlijnen geraadpleegd via de database van het US National Guideline Clearinghouse en de website van enkele belangrijke richtlijnorganisaties (NICE, SIGN et cetera). De gevonden artikelen worden beoordeeld op relevantie voor de vraagstelling en voor de eerstelijnsgeneeskunde.
