4 ★Update 8/26/20: I really like the recent updates. Very nice finally more customizable and very reliable. My original review was not positive because of problems with the app constantly making me sign and I had trouble navigating the menus. This is much better, thank you
2 ★Required to use a $250 device, but it barely works. Notifications only appear if you have the app open and the screen on. Half the time the app won't get past the loading screen.
1 ★With the new update, I am no longer able to connect the joule to wifi, this is the case with both apple and android. This is the second time an update has messed with the users ability to opperate the joule in the last 5 months. I have submitted a support ticket to the chef step website.
3 ★Debating if I want this brand or another especially after reading all the complaints. I see quick replies by the manufacturer only saying to "email or submit a ticket" however is there no phone customer service to get problems resolved immediately?! Sounds like this app has many bugs, are they worked out yet?!
1 ★I've been using the Joule for about a year with relatively few issues other than the occasional connection issue. However, this morning I awoke to a "WiFi disconnected" message, and when I checked the water temperature with an instant read thermometer, it was at 193°F, which is a LOT higher than the 135°F it had been set to. I now have $80 of heavily overcooked (i.e ruined) brisket. In retrospect, I should have spent that $80 on a better unit.
4 ★Great product and serviceable app! The only thing I miss is new recipes! Feels like the app is on life support and no more content is being added which is unfortunate. At least open up the recipe to the community and some sort of getting process or upvoting!
1 ★I liked my Joule cooker before the most recent update. The app itself is nice for a variety of different cooking ideas, but this does little good without connectivity. I can no longer connect to my device via WiFi or Bluetooth, although it sees it. I am very disappointed and will likely be switching to another simpler sous vide cooker.
1 ★I'm an early adopter of joule and put up with a lot. The latest update will not connect to my joule. The app knows my phone is bluetooth paired to the joule, but when I say connect, it goes to the post bluetooth pairing screen. I cannot use my joule until they push an update fixing whatever the latest version broke. Update: Rebooting my phone fixed the issue. The joule is an amazing device, but it has always had connection issues over the years and I'm just tired of them.
5 ★Love the device and had it for over a year now. No issues on the app for me. Big fan of the time saving and cooking perfection from using this. :)
1 ★After recent update, connected initially, continued to cook, hopefully at set temp, but went to check on time and would not connect. Thankfully remembered time it would be done. Restarted phone. Uninstallelled app and reinstalled. Disconnected to Wi-Fi. Tried just Bluetooth. Still not working. Prior to update things were good. Love recipes and sous vide. However, now very disappointed! I have Android.
1 ★Just will not sync with anything...un-install...re-install...7 times...just will not pair...$250 paper weight! Get a sous that has controls on it so you don't have deal with not being able to pair the bloody thing when you trying to cook.
2 ★App would not stay connected since update. Finally got it to start but it overheated my water to boiling. I uninstalled and tried to reinstall. Says 100% downloaded, however not showing up in my android phone. Frustrating since I use it every Sunday to cook several items for the week. I'm done trying today. It's a shame I love this tool but updates ALWAYS screw everything up. Putting it away. Might try again next week. Barbarajean
