Description

Leaf Spy Lite lets a Nissan Leaf owner view detailed information about their Leaf's battery by plugging in an inexpensive ELM-327 Bluetooth OBDII adapter into the standard OBDII port on the Leaf. ELM-327 Bluetooth adapters are available on eBay for around $10-$20 and one is required before Leaf Spy Lite can display information from your Leaf.

Due to a recent cost reduction (and feature reduction) many of the cheap ELM327 OBDII Bluetooth adapters from Asia no longer work with the Leaf and report themselves to be version 2.1. The only one currently recommended is the Bluetooth Konnwei KW902 which still supports all the needed ELM commands to communicate with the Leaf.

Although Leaf Spy Lite provides an easy and inexpensive way to learn more about your Leaf's battery it also serves as a way to verify if you have a working system before purchasing the full version of the app (Leaf Spy) which display much more information about your Leaf or the Leaf Spy Pro version that adds a number of service type functions.

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

5 ★Good
4 ★On my nexus 6 with Android 6.0 its getting reconnected. After I switch to another app and back there is no way it connects to odb tool anymore. I have to disable Bluetooth entirely and then enable back. Also I have ui issues that messes up many labels under the graph
3 ★Worked perfectly with my adapter, but not my phone. Graphs were all messed up and got a Java error when I tried to go into the settings that messed up most of the options. Maybe it will work better with my tablet.
1 ★Can't understand why it needs access to GPS position, phone calls, photos, contacts etc.... tell me how my battery is don't spy on me?
1 ★I've now purchased two obd2 device. Both pair with my phone but then return an error message when leafspy tries to access them. Massively frustrating and a waste of time.
4 ★Hi I'm having a issue the first few days when I check the battery it gave all the 96 bars in blue after few days after i checked again most of the bars are in red and only 5 bars blue
3 ★Well I've often wished I could check the battery charge status as the guess-o-meter bars showing sometimes seem inconsistent. So I took the plunge and ordered a Konnwei KW902 as recommended. Thought I was going to have to return it at first as the only thing I manged to pair the bluetooth to originally was my solar panel invertor! That didn't really help. Actually there is a push button on off switch KW902 which wasn't apparent at first given it is under the steering wheel. A mirror showed pushing the butto woke it up. You'd think the OBII adapter's instructions would make that clear, but they don't. Once it was paired I had no trouble getting the % state of charge. If only I undertstood the other graphs displayed! As to the App, as others have said, why does it need access to exact GPS Location, be able to modify the phone status and identity, have access to photos and other media, view Wi-Fi connections and Device ID & call information? Surely all it needs is access to bluetooth. Tne other items suggest data harvesting but for what purpose? I'd like to upgrade to a paid version but given these issues I will probably not actually keep the app on the phone. I've a suspicious mind.
2 ★It needs to have more features and be easier to use if you want us to consider the pro version
5 ★I have a cheap ELM327 that works. I'm not sure that I need the full version. I bought the full version, anyway, just to support the product.
2 ★Why does this app need access to your phone, photos and wifi connection information?
2 ★Does it need you to start wiring up your car? Or its WiFi and Bluetooth can it get info without? If wiring why the WiFi?
2 ★Doesn't connect
