Description
Ibnu Hajar al-Asqalani adalah ulama besar dan ahli hadits asal Mesir, yang hidup di tahun 773 - 852 H (1372 - 1449 M). Ia penganut mazhab Syafi'i.FATHUL BAARI adalah karyanya yang paling monumental, terdiri dari puluhan jilid. Kitab ini merupakan syarah (penjelasan) atas kitab SHAHIH nya Imam Bukhari.
Karya Al-Asqalani lainnya yang cukup terkenal adalah:
1. Bulugh al-Maram min Adillah al-Ahkam
2. Tahdzib al-Tahdzib
3. Al-Ishabah fi Tamyiz ash-Shahabah(kamus biografi sahabat)
4. Ad-Durar al-Kaminah (kamus biografi tokoh abad ke-8)
Al-Hafiz Ibnu Hajar yang pernah berguru dengan ulama besar seperti Ibnul Mulaqqin dan al-Iraqi (al-Iraqi lah yang pertama menggelari beliau dengan gelar ‘al-Hafiz’), menempuh metode menakjubkan dalam mengarang kitab Fathul Bari. Awalnya melalui imla’ (lisan) selama 5 tahun, kemudian beberapa muridnya yang cerdas berkumpul dan mengusulkan agar syarah tersebut dibukukan. Ibnu Hajar kemudian menyetujui usulan muridnya dan beliau menulis dengan tangannya sendiri sedikit demi sedikit, sehingga kitabnya telah dikoreksi dan diteliti secara jeli.
