Fundada em 2014, pelo Dr. Edson Rodrigues, a Fundação GAARI Juntou pessoas dispostas a ajudar os animais abandonados de Itaquaquecetuba e vem trabalhando na Conscientização, resgate, cuidado e a busca por um novo lar. Esse é o ideal do Grupo de Apoio aos animais de Rua de Itaquaquecetuba (GAARI) em prol dos bichinhos que sofrem maus tratos ou que são abandonados pelas ruas do município de Itaquaquecetuba.Por se tratar de uma instituição sem fins lucrativos, a entidade depende do apoio da comunidade e de parceiros, que podem contribuir com esse trabalho através de doações de ração, medicamentos ou que simplesmente se interessem pelo bem-estar dos cães e gatos que precisam do carinho e do cuidado de uma nova família.
A GAARI foi criada através de um sonho do Dr Edson e de um grupo de amigos, com objetivo de estimular o respeito aos animais, divulgar as leis que protegem todos os bichinhos, bem como a intenção de colaborar com o Poder Público na criação de políticas públicas que defendam a causa animal, além da promoção de campanhas educativas e a fiscalização do cumprimento da legislação de controle a população animal da cidade.
