Pulau Dayak (Kalimantan/Borneo) tercatat sebagai pulau terbesar ketiga di dunia, seluas 743.330 kilometer persegi, setelah Pulau Greenland di Denmark (daratan Eropa) seluas 2.175.600 kilometer persegi, dan Papua Nugini seluas 785.753 kilometer persegi. Suku Dayak, sebagai penduduk asli di Pulau Dayak, ada yang berkewarganegaraan Republik Indonesia, berkewarganegaraan Federasi Malaysia dan berkewarganegaraan Kerajaan Brunei Darussalam.
Berdasarkan temuan Balai Arkeologi Banjarmasin, Provinsi Kalimantan Selatan, Indonesia, tahun 1998 bahwa Suku Dayak, merupakan penduduk asal di Pulau Borneo, dengan ditemukannya Kerajaan Nan Sarunai, kerajaan milik Suku Dayak Maanyan di Amuntai, Ibu Kota Kabupaten Hulu Sungai Utara, Provinsi Kalimantan Selatan (berdiri 139 Sebelum Masehi), sebagai kerajaan Dayak paling tua di Indonesia.
Kota Amuntai memiliki luas 915,05 kilometer persegi, terletak di pertemuan antara Sungai Negara, Sungai Tabalong, dan Sungai Balangan, serta berjarak tempuh 190 kilometer sebelah utara Kota Banjarmasin, Ibu Kota Provinsi Kalimantan Selatan, Indonesia.
DIO singkatan dari Dayak International Organization, sebuah organisasi bertaraf internasional milik masyarakat Suku Dayak, secara khusus bergerak di bidang pelestarian Kebudayaan Suku Dayak dari wilayah Republik Indonesia, wilayah Federasi Malaysia dan wlayah Kerajaan Brunei Darussalam, berdasarkan Protokol Tumbang Anoi 2019.
DIO dibentuk untuk menjembati dan atau menselaraskan kepentingan pembangunan nasional di Negara Kesatuan Republik Indonesia (NKRI), Federasi Malaysia dan Kerajaan Bunei Darussalam, agar pembangunan di bidang ekonomi, sosial, budaya dan politik, bisa dinikmati secara berkeadilan sosial bagi masyarakat Suku Dayak.
