Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

4 ★Great app but sync issues. I have had the app for a couple of years and keep it updated. This issue is every time I attempt to read an article and it asks to "Open in App" it takes me to Play Store to Install the app. Instead of "Open or Update" I only get "Install" to an app I already have. Frustrating. So I now have 2 apps w/ different logos but still go to Play Store. Clicking Open takes me to the home page, not the desired article. Frustrating. So I use "view on Web" w/o the app. What good
5 ★Thought I had CNET app, but didn't. So, I know in the past and it's possible I used another email address. Anyway, CNETs is resourceful news, straight forward news spot for technology. The real easy, my cat could use it. Haha. Simple understanding, I need that. Don't have all my brain functions at times. And, it looks great. Brand resourceful people you are. Thanks, CNET, for being that stand out company! 👍👍👍👍👍
2 ★I thought this was going to be a copy of the website with search and different areas to go to. Instead it's just a bunch of videos. Disappointed with that but it does have some redeeming qualities. Video okay - just no navigation to what my interests are at the time. I use the cnet website as a reference tool and would like to be able to use the app the same way.
4 ★Most of the time, pretty good. All of them need to learn to speak in clear English, make better eye contact, and dress professionally instead as if they just got out of bed wearing their clothes.
1 ★do not install this app. If you want to read cnet, use the mobile site and create a shortcut. Lately they started autoplaying of videos but since I usually have the sound turn off, there is a big unmute button that must the click before you can stop the autoplaying. this is embarrassing when the sound from the video starts blasting from the phone in public. in addition since I cannot immediately stop the autoplaying, it is eating the data on the phone.
5 ★Downloaded it to my Galaxy S7 Edge after reading of another user's difficulty. Works fine. Opened app repeatedly just to see. No problems. Articles came up fast. Switching categories is smooth. I've relied on CNET heavily over the years. I trust them. I'm glad to have them in my pocket now. Try it. And to the user with the phone like mine, make sure its updated then uninstall/reinstall. Maybe that'll work. I hope so.
2 ★App opened fine when I first installed it a few weeks ago. A few days after that it would not open. So uninstalled reinstalled still no good. Now reinstalled the latest version app takes almost a minute to open then after another minute closes on its own. Just open up the site in your web browser and you won't have any issues. Update: Installed version 4.5.8 still takes almost a minute to open app and stories then closes on it's own after a minute however reopen from recents the app stays open.
1 ★App reset don't use background data setting during an update, then used over 5GB of data last night while my phone was not in use, leaving me with a huge overage bill! Before that would rate the app 4 stars, but now I can only advise to avoid. *To address the developer question: I was not looking at anything, I was not using the phone. The day before I had scrolled through a few days on the latest news feed, and opened a 15-20 articles. An email has been sent showing my data use.
1 ★Either this app is poorly managed or is misleading AF. It doesn't cover any tech news, instead offers stimulus payment news. Any other tech news is from 2 years ago (check the comments)
1 ★very limited search. Cnet had done tens of thousands of reviews on various products but the search on the app only shows you what they list as their best. limited or no results when searching for things not in their top 10. other product reviews are unreachable with this app. you should be able to and search for everything listed on the main web page not just the top few suggestions. this app is a fail. Uninstall
3 ★There are at least two problems with the CNet app: auto play videos is on by default and you cannot open images and resize them, so if the image is of something small you have to go to the website to view it better. Admittedly, maybe small criticisms, but they are quite annoying, at least to me.
3 ★The App seems to be the Step brother of the Website - it is a visibly underfed product vs Website with features missing. I have recently installed the Cnet App. I have realised that features like Finance and Health are not available on the App. For these it seems I have to access the website. Please advise if the App will have these features soon or not. Or if I am doing something incorrectly. Thank you.
