Bangladesh is reckoned as one of the most disaster-prone countries in the world. People living in the rural and coastal areas of Bangladesh are the considered most vulnerable communities. Reality is, the cities of the country are also exposed to a number of natural and human-induced hazards, which include earthquake, flood and flash flood, landslide, fire outbreak and water-logging. Though in most cases the urban communities fail to recognise the surrounding hazards due to lack of experience, knowledge and skill; and as a result, often caught unprepared when a disaster strikes.\nThis mobile app on Urban Disaster Preparedness is developed by international humanitarian organisation Oxfam with an aim to raise mass awareness regarding the preparedness measures against two major urban hazards – Earthquake and Fire Outbreak. The apps will help the users learn about the basic preparatory and response measures during an emergency situation.
