Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

4 ★I've been using this app for a little more than a year. In that time it has improved a lot which is great. It still can't cope with a lack of data cxn, which is dumb since the maps are downloaded. If it doesn't have a data cxn and you deviate from the route, it FREAKS OUT and never recovers. It also still has its annoying tendency to take you "the scenic route" through an urban center with lots of pointless low speed turns. Just get me out of town please.
3 ★Good navigation but the addresses don't always work since it's using Open Street Maps. When you load a GPX file, it doesn't always keep the original track and it likes to try and do its own thing with the route. The round trip feature is nice and I like that you can shape a twisty route pretty easily by dropping or moving waypoints. This would be much better if there was a better map option like Google Maps or Here Maps. Offline maps are a nice touch.
5 ★I was using another similar competitor app that starts with an R and everything about it was so frustrating that I decided to try calimoto. Everything just works like you would expect. It was a breeze to create a route. Navigation was straight forward and reliable. Only issue was when I had been out of signal for a while and it didn't voice a turn but it showed on the map. It was at a stop sign so easy enough to deal with. This app is now my go to!
3 ★I really like this app, it seems to find the most scenic roads for me in MD and part of the border states. This is confirmed by the "Scenic Way" signs along the route and the roads are twisty and enjoyable. The app however seems a bit glitchy in 3 ways; 1. The map is lazy to render and sticks on the wrong orientation 2. Late notice on turns - goes from .3 mile to a sudden 500 ft. to turn NOW! I missed a few turns with it. 3. It add mileage to meet your chosen distance with dead end roads, back t
3 ★Tried this app again and it still has no option to turn off dirt roads. Great app, very useful! I've lived in the area for over 30 years and I'm finding backroads I never knew existed! Keeps you off the interstates and I love that. I have one huge beef with this app that needs to be fixed and that is it loves to route you down dirt roads with no option to turn those off. It would also greatly benefit from a "friends list" so you can add your friends and see when they add new rides.
3 ★Edit #2 2023: Down to 3 stars, the cost is +/- 90 cad with taxes. Almost my Office 365 subscription! At 30-40 cad + taxes it would make sense. Not 90. Edit #1 2023: Lowered to 4 stars. I now need to buy the full premium subscription @77 cad$/year if I want to simply track my ride. There is no option between 0$ and 77 cad$/year. Does not make sense. Plus their website & Android versions of the app are obviously not in sync, which only adds to the confusion. I'm looking for alternatives.
3 ★Great idea, but it needs work. Wish this would use Google's map API for addresses/road names, but use their algorithm for the route. This app is tailored for Europe as it struggles finding addresses in the US, which is a shame. This works better than Rever. Accuracy is not great either. I have missed several turns, but hey that's great U-Turn practice. Voice wouldn't always say the road name. Which is dangerous on a motorcycle needing to look down frequently to double check.
4 ★Amazing routing algorithm, below average navigation experience, nice extras for motorcycle riders. This app is worth getting for the routing algorithm it has. It is simple to use, especially if you plan on your computer and sync the route to your phone. The curvy roads it finds are almost always great to ride in reality. The round trip functionality allows you to plan a great route in under 10 minutes. The navigation experience could be a lot better, but you get acceleration, lean angle data.
2 ★Terrible. Tried to plan a trip on desktop version so that it would sync to my phone. The app is not intuitive to use at all, and planning a trip was a nightmare. Had to create 23 waypoints for a 160 mile ride so that it would choose the roads that I wanted to ride. It kept choosing the wrong route between two points which didn't make sense, and routing me the long way through residential neighborhoods instead of straight through a town on the main road. The app calculated my ride to be 160 miles and then said that the ride would take 8 hours. What?! Tried to navigate with the app when riding and about half the time it kept telling me to turn the opposite direction to the way that I knew I should turn. It would then recalculate the route but this took a very long time and while doing this it muted the music I was listening to to a level I could barely hear. Finally at one point when getting a wrong prompt for a turn I pulled over and checked the map. About 6 or 8 of my waypoints were moved into random places, so that my planned route now looked like a scribble in an area that I didn't even want to ride. At that point I closed the app and just used Google Maps to navigate. This app is worse than having nothing at all to navigate with.
4 ★I've been using Calimoto for a few months now and overall I like the app. It's fairly easy to plan routes and I like seeing the record of the route and some statistics after the ride. It feels like it is not really setup for multiday rides unless you break up each day's ride into a separate route. The paid version gives you only a couple extra stats but you can use offline maps which is necessary where I ride. I'd like to be able to download certain Canadian provinces maps individually as well.
4 ★Works great for the most part. I only have two problems I've found with it is sometimes it shuts itself off, and when you search for anywhere specific it can't find it. You usually have to put in a town name and get close or manually drop a pin. But it's amazing for planning out long rides or even just giving you a round trip with some curvy roads based on the miles you tell it you want to ride and the direction you want to go.
5 ★Best of it's kind that I've found. Look it doesn't have the same empire behind it as Google maps so there are limitations, but it does one heck of a job finding great riding routes and avoiding highways and congested travel paths. Some of the suggested pathways are weird but usually interesting and get you where you're going. If you use it in conjunction with more detailed mapping software it can really enhance your riding experience.
