Description

ICE Standard, the Emergency Standard Card App for Android, can help save your life.

Ambulances take patients to the ER over 16 million times each year in the US. ICE Standard helps first time responders and emergency room personnel locate a person’s updated medical information, emergency / medical contacts, medical insurance information, blood type, name, address and a photo verification of the individual. This application has been developed by the About the Kids foundation, a nonprofit organization, with input from EMTs, police officers, firefighters and emergency room personnel.

In order to make first responders are aware of the app, it is best to provide a shortcut on the lock screen. Some Android phones have this capability built in, while others will need to install third party lock screen apps to enable this.

One of the unique features of ICE Standard and the Emergency Standard Card is color coding that reflects your medical information. This helps first responders quickly determine the severity of potential issues with the patient, based on their medical history. Red indicates the individual has severe allergies, medical devices, health conditions, or is on medications. Yellow indicates the individual is taking medications. Green indicates the user is 'good to go', with no health complications.

The phone is regarded as a backup location for your emergency medical information, as in an accident your phone may be damaged, overlooked or out of power. A physical emergency card is the best way to provide health information for emergency personnel. The six standard places for emergency personnel to look are:

1 - Automobile – Glove Compartment
2 - Pedestrians – Wallet or Purse
3 - Bicyclists / Motorcycles – Under the Seat
4 - Home – Refrigerator Dairy or Butter Dish
5 - Sports Athletes – Coach’s Possession
6 - Work Place – Emergency Response Team Member.

Official Emergency Standard Cards can be ordered from EmergencyStandard.org.

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

5 ★I recommend this app, it is a great tool for everyone to have since "things happen", I feel safer to know that in case of an emergency my previously designated contacts would be called. I truly believe, it can avoid more complications that the emergency it self.
1 ★The information content is good. I cannot save it to the lockscreen on my phone because there is no option to do so, so it is completely useless. Uninstalling it after this review.
2 ★ICE Standard. Am going to give it a try and see if I can enter Sll my necessary info. If I can do so Without Problems, will rate it well. If not, will uninstall immediately.
5 ★This App isn't just cool, its ICE cold! I love knowing I'm a low risk and feel safer than ever having this installed on my phone
5 ★This is wonderful. Having just had a medical emergency that was very unexpected I can tell you that this type of emergency medical information app would have been a big help.
3 ★Not keen on the edit button so easy to touch on front page. Would also like to be able to open from locked screen as this missing option leaves the app useless to any emergency medic.
2 ★Spent a long time entering info, saved, hit back button to go back to main screen, it did not. Ended up erasing most of what I entered. Also cannot figure out a way to make it easily found, galaxy 5 Verizon apparently won't allow it on lock screen.
5 ★Everyone should use this app! I've recommended it to all of my sickly friends who often find themselves in emergency situations.
5 ★Great app especially for kids who are clueless but have a phone and need to let teachers or day care people or babysitters know some basic important information... Also helpful if you are found in a gutter and someone has no clue who u are they can just check ur phone. Smart :)
3 ★Great Idea... would be good if it was visible on lock screen, DOB presented in a format suitable for UK users, list medications in a list view rather than string. It would also be good if you could call from the emergency contacts and have relationship to the person.
5 ★Super easy to use and install. Just be careful to not put "none or n/a" in the fields that does not apply or else it will prompt a "high risk" code. It's easy to fix but just be aware. I really like this app because being an outdoors enthusiast, I almost never carry my wallet. But being a typical girl, I always have my phone on me to take pictures. Thanks JS for recommending this app :)
1 ★If it's to behave as a card, an emergency worker should just be able to grab the phone turn it on and see the stuff right on top. Or at least through the emergency call button
