Het gaat immers om de gezondheid van jongemannen. Zaadbalkanker is de meest voorkomende kanker bij mannen tussen de 15 en 35 jaar.”, aldus Gerrit-Jan Steenbergen.
Brits onderzoek
Uit Brits onderzoek blijkt dat zelfonderzoek belangrijk is bij de ontdekking van zaadbalkanker. Hierdoor wordt zaadbalkanker eerder ontdekt en is deze meestal nog goed te behandelen. Bovendien vermindert het stimuleren van zelfonderzoek het stigma en taboe op de ziekte. Dit schrijven vooraanstaande Britse onderzoekers in april 2012 in BMJ, het vooraanstaande Britse medische tijdschrift. Vandaar deze app Check your friends.
