This is NOT that app.This is a beta application. As such many features may not work. This app is under active development and will be improved soon!
GridWatch shows you where the power is out near you. It uses crowd-sourcing to monitor power outages. By simply installing, you would be contributing to better monitoring of the power grid.
Outage information from user reports and automatic detection are displayed on the map, so you can see the picture yourself and your utility company can know as well. Open the app to see other users’ reports.
GridWatch lets you report a power outage with a single click. Simply press “My Power Is Out!” at the bottom of your screen. You can also report that the power is back.
If the power goes out when your phone is charging GridWatch will automatically sense the outage and register it.
Anonymized data gathered by GridWatch will be made publicly available soon. This helps consumers learn about the quality of service they receive, researchers learn about how the power grid works and utility companies better serve their customers.
This is a research app and as such might not be fully functional. Report problems or issues to help us improve, or get involved.

Download GridWatch (beta) APK file from ApkClean, then follow these steps:
Update Phone Settings
- Go to your phone Settings page
- Tap Security or Applications (varies with device)
- Check the Unknown Sources box
- Confirm with OK
Go to Downloads
- Open Downloads on your device by going to My Files or Files
- Tap the APK file you downloaded (com.umich.gridwatch-v2.8-ApkClean.apk)
- Tap Install when prompted, the APK file you downloaded will be installed on your device.

Q: What is an APK File?
A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.
Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?
A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
