The success of Middle Galaxy depends on you!As the Captain leading an expedition to an off-world colony, you will assign cadets to important missions, completing as many as possible. Along the way you will explore the knowledge, skills and abilities needed by the cadets to succeed.
This game features:
• 28 missions to establish a new colony.
• Captain’s Actions to enhance your cadets.
• Specialty cadet assignments to earn bonus points.
• Opportunities for strategic thinking, decision making, and developing growth mindset.
• Experiential learning through game play in which:
•• Students objectively observe different careers and opportunities.
•• Students learn about the knowledge and skills required for different careers.
•• The value of acquiring new skills, knowledge and abilities are practiced.
Developed as part of the Texas OnCourse educational initiative, Middle Galaxy is the first game of it’s kind. A collaboration between University of Texas, Austin, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the Institute for Applied Neuroscience, Middle Galaxy lets students explore a wide range of career possibilities, and the underlying knowledge and skills required for those professions, through play-based learning.
Designed as a classroom tool to help Texas middle school students select a focused area of study in high school (known as an endorsement), Middle Galaxy is an excellent educational tool to use in any classroom, or for independent play.
