Ein Blick durchs Mikroskop....Bei der Gesteinsbestimmung ist das Mikroskop für den Fachmann ein unentbehrliches Hilfsmittel.
Während unserer langjährigen Arbeit zur "Großen Enzyklopädie der Steine" haben wir unter anderem auch eine Vielzahl von Mikrofotos mit einer bis zu 40-fachen Vergößerung angefertigt.
Neben vielen tausend "normalen" Fotos fielen bei dieser Arbeit einige, zum Teil spektakuläre Exemplare an, welche man, besonders unter ästhetischen Gesichtspunkten als herausragend bezeichnen kann.

Oft wurden wir in den letzten Jahren auf diese Abbildungen angesprochen, und zwar nicht nur von Fachleuten, sondern besonders auch von interessierten Laien.
Wir haben uns daher entschlossen, die schönsten und ausdrucksstärksten dieser Abbildungen einem breiteren Kreis zugänglich zu machen.
Zum besseren Verständnis hat der Diplom-Geologe Karl-Jochen Stein, mit dem wir seit Jahren bei der Gesteinsbestimmung zusammenarbeiten, jeder Abbildung einen kurzen erklärenden Text beigefügt.
