■家紋とは
家紋とは日本で生まれた紋章であり、家族や同族を表すシンボルです。
平安時代の貴族社会の中で、朝廷に参内するために乗る牛車に文様をいれ、これが鎌倉時代に家紋として定着したといわれています。
日本の十大家紋は藤、片喰、木瓜、鷹の羽、蔦、柏、桐、茗荷、沢瀉、橘とされています。家紋の多くは植物や動物、自然、建物、器物、文様、図象、図案に由来する紋章です。
家紋(family crest,Crest,kamon)は西洋の象徴(Symbol)や紋章(Coat of arms)に該当し、日本では、墓石や結婚式、お葬式などの冠婚葬祭や紋付袴や着物などで使用され、世界を代表するデザインとしても有名です。
