Description

This app was primarily designed for use in Allegheny County, Don Salvador Benedicto, Georgia Tech, Grand Valley State University, Harvard, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Las Vegas in New Mexico, and Santa Fe.

NOVID goes beyond contact tracing. It is the first and only application that warns you about cases of COVID-19 in your personal network before you you're exposed, while keeping you anonymous. It gives you personalized COVID Radar about disease spread. It also gives you exposure alerts if you have spent a long time near people who later self-report positive tests. It's your radar and shield in this difficult time.

Under the hood, NOVID automatically generates a random anonymous identifier, which has no relationship to your personal information. You don't need to provide an email address, phone number, username, or password. NOVID periodically scans the nearby area using a combination of Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and ultrasound, detecting and sending only anonymous identifiers.

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

User's Reivew

4 ★This app needs a critical mass of users to work. Y'all should get the word out! :-) Also, someone mentions that anyone can self report COVID. Yes, you don't have proof and it works on trust, but it's better for people experiencing any initial symptoms to self-report for others to distance themselves, without the delay of testing present in many regions.
4 ★The apps looks user friendly, and the instructions and explaination are pretty clear, but i think what would be better is still not use bluetooth because it is very power consuming and can be used by hacker for malicious purposes.
2 ★Not useful. It constantly keeps a notification icon up with no way to turn it off and frequently stops working because I need to "restart bluetooth". So it's not working AND annoying me with unnecessary clutter in my notification area.
2 ★So, if NOVID "doesn't need location data", how come it requires constant access to my location data before it will work? The permissions the app is _claiming_ it needs ("only bluetooth and microphone") are out of sync with the permissions Android is saying it needs (constant access to my location data).
1 ★The app makes very annoying noises (even when phone is locked and the app is running in background). I had to turn it off after one day of using. This defeats the purpose of a contact tracing app.
2 ★Great idea, doesn't work. We had it running at work and home. Even my wife didn't register as a contact. Uninstaller so I am not surrendering battery to nothing.
1 ★Dont like the app , had it for several weeks and nothing , I dont think someone with the virus is going to publicly expose themselves, or be out in public to begin with . Also it drains my battery having bluetooth on all the time
5 ★I love this app it gives me so much peace of mind knowing that if I do run across somebody that ends up having covid-19 I will at least know and I can quarantine myself.
1 ★Requires every location and microphone permission in the book.
3 ★I suppose it works but I can't really say. After a couple weeks I still have zero alerts. Might be useful if everyone had it.
5 ★Just downloaded this app and I anticipate it being very helpful. It seems that this method of tracing will be the most effective way to control the spread of the virus.
4 ★Constant open mic drains battery fast. 😡up Upgraded to new phone, battery issue fixed.
