סדר הלימוד
(מתוך ההקדמה לתלמוד עשר הספירות - בסופה)
למד תחילה את ה"פנים", דהיינו דברי האריז"ל, המודפסים בראשי העמודים עד סוף הספר. ואע"פ שלא תבין, חזור עליהם כמה פעמים ע"ד "מתחילה למגמר והדר למסבר". אח"ז, למד את הביאור "אור פנימי", והשתדל בו, באופן שתוכל ללמוד ולהבין היטב את ה"פנים" גם בלי עזרת הביאור, ואח"ז למד את הביאור "הסתכלות פנימית" עד שתבינהו ותזכרהו כולו. ואחר כולם, נסה עצמך בלוח השאלות, ואחר שהשבת על השאלה, הסתכל בתשובה המסומנת באותה האות של השאלה, וכן תעשה בכל שאלה ושאלה. ותלמד ותשנן ותחזור עליהם כמה פעמים עד שתזכרם היטב כמונחים בקופסא, כי בכל מלה ומלה ממש, שבחלק השלישי, צריכים לזכור היטב כל שני החלקים הראשונים, אף מובן קטן לא יחסר. והגרוע מכל הוא, שהמעיין לא ירגיש כלל מה ששכח, אלא, או שהדברים יטשטשו בעיניו, או שיתקבל לו פירוש מוטעה בענין, מחמת השכחה. וכמובן, שטעות אחת גוררת אחריה עשר טעויות, עד שיבא לאי הבנה לגמרי, ויהיה מוכרח להניח את ידו מהלימוד לגמרי.
