4 ★A very strong digital adaption of a great boardgame. It's my favorite worker placement game on digital. The animations help bring the game to life. I've played about 20 games without a noticable bug. The game loses a star for its multiplayer experience. The asynchronous times are not adjustable and just too long. This coupled with players who have abandoned their games makes for very slow game progression. I also don't see a way to friend other players if I don't know their email or friend code.
5 ★faithful to the physical game with charm and style. Runs really well on a note 8, but does seem to be a bit of a battery eater. cant wait for the expansions to get added! (and maybe architects next?) (only 4 star controls as viewing tooltips for plunder is awkward and unintuitive, and placing workers can feel like threading a needle at times)
5 ★Great implementation of an excellent worker placement board game. The tutorial and challenges provide a very easy to follow way to learn the intricacies of how the game works and also strategies on how to win. A fun app to play and a great way to learn the board game itself.
3 ★Solo, it's great. Setting up a multiplayer game was a horrible experience. Even more horrible was trying out the live game. It's so finicky and every time I minimize the game, my connection drops. I don't have this issue with other games, and I have plenty of boardgame ports that are so much easier to use.
5 ★I usually don't bother to write reviews for games, but I had to make an exception for this one because it's just so well made. The devs clearly put a lot of time and effort into making this a great port of the tabletop game. If you like board games, especially worker placement games, you'll enjoy this app. Highly recommend.
4 ★The game looks amazing, the Campaign is great fun. It's just such a shame that the AI does such a terrible job. Only one level of AI exists and it did not even came close beating me in my very first game. I hope a more exciting AI will be added in the near future which will easily make this a five star game.
5 ★Lots of fun, well designed tutorial, great game! I have 2 minor issues. first, I would like a local multiplayer option (pass & play). Second, I now have to find room on my shelf for a physical copy of the game!
2 ★I liked learning the game, but there is something about the "Rescue" level that is super dreadful. 1) This game should be above the "reroll" mechanism; drawing extra attention to luck is stupid. 2) "Gain 2 attack during raids?" Why doesn't it just say "4" on the red tag? 3) The AI is set up to have the upper hand on you in such a large way you will lose every time. 4) In a game where it's just me, why should there ever be 3 AI? A game I spent way too much for shouldn't build such hate so fast.
5 ★This is a great mobile implemention of a great board game! Very true to the original, and again with great art, just as with the original. I can't wait for the rest of the North Sea trilogy as well as Architects of the West Kingdom to be released, too!
3 ★NEW REVIEW: See below for initial review, BUT I've downgraded to 3 stars b/c (1) game keeps logging me out during online games when I've switched windows, and (2) completed challenges don't register (e.g. I've made no progress on "Win 3 games" after many wins) OLD REVIEW: Worker placement board game adaptation. Otherwise unique concept. Interface is instinctive. Tutorial could maybe be improved. Graphics superb. All the fun, none of the time-consuming calculation! Good job, guys! Enjoying it.
4 ★I love this game, but my biggest issue is the campaign mode doesn't really tell you how to succeed. "Collect gold!" ... ok, i collected gold, and get told it's not enough. No where does it say what the objective target is. Could use a little tooltip or something.
4 ★an absolutely beautiful app version of the game. visual cues and details are wonderful, play is easy, and the tutorial does a good job without being overly long. The only weakness is an AI that isn't at all challenging.
