ولأجل تلك المساحة الواسعة التي تركها موضوعها الجن في الكتاب والسنة، ودواوين الإسلام الكثيرة رأيت أن من الأهمية بمكان أن أفرد مصنفًا مختصرًا يعرف بهم، ويذكر صفاتهم، ويبين خيرهم وشرهم، والوسائل التي تعين على اتقاء شرهم، لا سيما في هذا الزمان الذي عم فيه الجهل، وكثر فيه الاتصال بالسحرة والكهان الذين يأخذون من كفرة الجن ليضلوا ويُضلوا.
كما أن في الحديث عنهم إرشادًا وتنبيهًا لما أصيب به كثير من الناس في زماننا هذا من تسلط كفرة الجن عليهم بالصرع، ليعلم هؤلاء المصابون بهذا الأمر أنه ابتلاء واختبار، وأن من أصيب بذلك فصبر كان جزاؤه الجنة؛ كما ورد ذلك في قصة المرأة التي كانت تصرع.
