በስመ አብ ወወልድ ወመንፈስ ቅዱስ አሐዱ አምላክ አሜን፡፡ቅድስት ቤተ ክርስቲያናችን ኃይለ ቃልን ከትርጓሜ፣ ትርጓሜን ከምሥጢር እንዲሁም ደግሞ ምሥጢርን ከዜማ ጋር አስተባብረውና አስማምተው የሚደርሱ ሊቃውንት ባለቤት ናት፡፡ በ5ኛው መ.ክ.ዘመን የተነሣው ታላቁ ሊቅቅዱስ ያሬድ አምስቱን ጸዋትወ ዜማ ሲደርስ በ14ኛው መ.ክ.ዘመን የተነሣው አባ ጊዮርጊስ ደግሞ ሰዓታትን ደርሷል፡፡ በዚሁ ዘመን አባ ጊዮርጊስ ጋር ጥልቅ መንፈሳዊ ፍቅር የነበረው አባ ጽጌ ድንግል “ማኅሌተ ጽጌ” የተባለውን ድርሰት ደርሷል፡፡
ማኅሌተ ጽጌ ግጥማዊ አካሔድ ያለው ድንቅ ኢትዮጵያዊ ድርሰት ነው፡፡ ይህ ድርሰት በማንኛውም ጊዜ የሚጸለይ ቢሆንም በተለየ ሁኔታ በቤተ ክርስቲያን አገልግሎት የሚውለው ከመስከረም 26 እስከ ኅዳር 5 ቀን ድረስ ባለው የእመቤታችን የቅድስት ድንግል ማርያም የስደት ዘመን ነው፡፡ በዚህ ወቅት በየሳምንቱ እሑድ ሌሊት በሙሉ የእመቤታችንን ከልጇ ጋር ወደ ግብፅ መሰደድና መንከራተት እያሰቡ የሚደረስ ምሥጋናና ጸሎት ነው፡፡
በዘመነ ጽጌ ቅዱስ ያሬድ ከደረሰው ድጓ በተጨማሪ ከላይ እንደተጠቀሰው በ14ኛው መቶ ክፍለ ዘመን የተነሣ አባ ጽጌ ድንግል ከዚሁ ዘመን ጋር የተያያዘ ድርሰት ደርሷል፡፡ ይህ ድርሰት በግጥም መልክ የተደረሰ በአብዛኛው አምስት ስንኞች ያሉት ሲሆን ብዛቱም 15ዐ ያክል ነው፡፡ ይህም ድርሰት«ማኅሌተ ጽጌ» በመባል የሚታወቀው ነው፡፡ ፍሬ ከአበባ አበባም ከፍሬ እንደሚገኘው ሁሉ ማኅሌተ ጽጌም እመቤታችን ቅድስት ድንግል ማርያምንና ልጇን መድኃኒታችንና አምላካችን ኢየሱስ ክርስቶስን በአበባና በፍሬ እየመሰለ የሚያስረዳ ድርሰት ነው፡፡ እርሷን በአበባ ሲመስል ልጇን በፍሬ እርሷን በፍሬ ሲመስል ደግሞ ልጇን በአበባ እየመሰለ ይናገራል፡፡ ነቢዩ ኢሳይያስ «ትወጽእ በትር እምሥርወ እሴይ ወየዓርግ ጽጌ እምጉንዱ፤ ከእሴይ ግንድ በትርይወጣል፤ ከሥሩም ቁጥቋጦ ያፈራል» /ኢሳ.11፡1/ ብሎ ከእሴይ ዘር የምትገኘውን እመቤታችንን በበትር ከርሷ የሚገኘውን ክርስቶስን ደግሞ በጽጌ መስሎ ትንቢቱን ተናግሯል፡፡ አባ ጽጌ ድንግልም ድርሰቱን በዚሁ አንጻር በመቀመር እያንዳንዱን መልክዕ እመቤታችንንና ልጇን አስተባብሮ በጽጌና በፍሬ በመመሰል የእግዚአብሔርን ድንቅ ሥራ በምሥጢር በታሪክ፣ በጸሎትና በመሳሰለው መልክ ድንቅ በሆነና በተዋበ ሁኔታ አዋሕዶ ደርሶታል፡፡
