If you live in Cary, North Carolina, or you've driven through, chances are you've noticed the public art sculptures and structures around town.According to the Town of Cary, "Public art is a cultural resource and a source of community pride in Cary. Pieces of art have been placed throughout Cary through the efforts of the Cultural Arts Division of the Town of Cary Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department and Cary Visual Art."
This app answers the question, "What is it?" and provides you with background information and thoughts about each piece.
Using your location we'll show you the nearest public art on a map, and for many art pieces we'll show you additional details like who the artist was, what material was used, the date it was installed, how much it cost, or who donated it.
The app's secondary goal is to share with you information about current and past Art Exhibitions and the Venues around town which have public art on display. This way you can keep up-to-date on exhibitions and choose to attend.
This app is made and supported by members of Code for Cary and uses data provided by the Town of Cary.
