Riyadhus Shalihin yang diartikan sebagai pelatihan orang-orang shalih, dibahas menjadi 19 kitab yang terbagi atas 372 Bab dan menyertakan sebanyak 1900 hadis. Dalam metode penulisannya, Imam Nawawi mengemukakan ayat-ayat Qur’an sebagai dalil utama untuk menguatkan dalil penyokong atas kitab yang akan dibahas, kemudian baru menyertakan dalil-dalil hadis sebagai penjabaran atas bab-bab yang dibahas tersebut.
