25 anni di Festival significano almeno 3 generazioni: di musicisti, di pubblico, in parte anche di organizzatori.
Dalle 24 edizioni risultano 310 concerti, il che significa migliaia di musicisti e strumenti, ore e ore di musica dai più remoti angoli della terra. Un quarto di secolo di musiche dei popoli giunte a Genova, talvolta mai uscite dai loro territori di origine, talvolta in incontri improbabili con altre musiche. E naturalmente migliaia di spettatori.
FAMIGLIE SONORE nasce da una necessità sociale, specchio del tempo contemporaneo occidentale, dove la musica nelle famiglie è presenza rara. La musica nelle famiglie di tradizione, nel mondo, è invece presenza costante, momento di narrazione e condivisione quotidiana, momento di unione e trasmissione del sapere e del vivere di un villaggio, di una cultura, di un popolo.
