Description
대평군물은 임진왜란 때 치열한 접전을 펼쳤던 합천 초계의 청계산성 전투에서 유래한다.이때 창원출신의 의병장 노경종 장군의 지휘하에 왜군과 맞서 싸웠던 의병들이 승전하게 된 데는 대평군물의 역할이 크다. 대평마을을 비롯한 초계지역에서 사용해 오던 북과 꽹과리, 징 등의 전통적인 민속 악기가 전쟁에서 하나의 전쟁 수단으로 사용되어졌던 것이다. 또한 전쟁이 끝난 후 이 악기들은 농민들의 삶 속에서 진법과 어우러지면서 절도 있는 대형을 갖춘 놀이로 발전하게 된다.
