4 ★Review based on previous version - before re-branding as Shell recharge! I reviewed 12 apps to find charging stations, based on their performance in the Rhein-Main area of Germany. I liked this one because: + It had a good search function + and clearly showed the distrance of the charging stations to the destination + It clearly showed costs to use charging stations + It has good coverage of charging stations But, it missed some key features: - It misses many charging stations that are free to use! - Cannot filter by price - It got taken over by Shell and I will not update it until I see better reviews
5 ★Really good app for finding EV stations nearby! Worked perfectly on my road trip through Germany, Swiss and France. Has some useful features, like estimated charging time (car specific). Prices might be slightly higher though, so maybe check in advance 😜 as one other here pointed out it would be great if you could send the navigation directly to the Tesla app. Overall, I would recommend if you own an EV. Furthermore, ordering the RFID chip is simple and free 👍🏼
1 ★Doubt I will ever use this service again. Last time I used it I was trapped in the car park as the charging point would not release my charging cable. Had to wait until a member of staff could get to the car park to reset the points. Don't know what would have happened if it had been later in the day. If I use it again I will have a 5lb lump hammer in the boot to free myself. Use with caution
2 ★The makeover to Shell Recharge has not done this app any good. The screens are terrible, with messages running of the screen. It's okay for the Netherlands, due to the high density of charging points, but in other countries this app misses about half the available charging points and some of the points on the app aren't publicly available. Not good when you're counting on a decent charge with only 30 km in the battery.
1 ★This was NewMotion, when the app was still useful. Now it changed to Shell and the app sucks. I used to be able to find charge stations in my vicinity, but since it is Shell Recharge, not all charging stations show up. Yes, I have checked all settings and yes, I know how this works. I have been driving electric for over 3 years.
1 ★Ever since this app took over newmotion, nothing works. No notifications, history doesn't update, can't cancel a charge. Absolutely awful. If I could give it no stars, I would. Well done Shell you've broken the app. I wouldn't be surprised if you've done it on purpose because you hate electric cars.
2 ★Update 01.04.2020: Latest update has erased all previous user and account settings. Marvellous. Also landscape mode for tablets is not working anymore. Marvellous. Input field to register Shell EV card only contains 10 numbers whereas 19 numbers are required. Marvellous. Previous, before 01.04.2020: Feedback from within the app seems to be consistently ignored. I have reported numerous times that a particular charging station is not public or does not work with Shell EV card. This information is simply not updated. #Sad.
1 ★Why doesn't the app allow to scan qr codes of charging points? Sometimes the map takes a while to load, then I have to find the charging point on the map and manually compare the numbers. Very inconvenient compared to scanning a qr code. Update: sometimes the app does not show charging points right next to my current location on the map and I have to restart the app multiple times. Also the app does display charging points it actually does not support, which it only tells you when you to start
1 ★Used to be a great app until Shell got ahold of it. Now it's a piece of garbage. Can't unlock my cord anymore through the app and today when opening I get a full screen question if I want to receive additional spam. It doesn't matter if I click yes or no, the app won't continue. #Fossil-Idiots
3 ★very useful for finding charging points but has many annoying bugs. The fact that past charging sessions only appear in the app a month after, even if you used the app to start and stop charging, is very strange and not just annoying.
1 ★This app has no charge history or charges shown. I've been using a charge point at work thinking it was free only to find out I was being charged for it by downloading the EV Charging app. There's no signs on the designated charging parking spot and no notifications or anything to indicate I was being charged for this!
5 ★App works quite well and the database with charging points is quite adequate in comparison with other apps I have tried. I am using the app mostly because I charge daily on a public NewMotion charging point and being able to see/get notified when the charging has been completed is essential.
