Wir freuen uns, Sie auf dem 92. Kongress der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Neurologie in Stuttgart begrüßen zu dürfen.Die Neurologie ist die Schlüsselmedizin des 21. Jahrhunderts, was auch am Kongressprogramm erkennbar ist. Kaum ein anderes medizinisches Fach hat in den vergangenen Jahren so viele Innovationen hervorgebracht wie die Neurologie – und dieser Trend setzt sich fort. Zunehmend hält die Präzisionsmedizin Einzug in unser Fach, das Verständnis der molekularen Prozesse bei der Entstehung verschiedener neurologischer Krankheiten ermöglicht die Entdeckung neuer Therapietargets und die Entwicklung zielgerichteter Behandlungsansätze. Einige Indikationen, die bisher als unheilbar galten, können heute schon wirksam behandelt werden und es besteht die Hoffnung, dass wir für zunehmend mehr Erkrankungen neue, zielgerichtete Therapien finden werden.
Die zunehmende Personalisierung der Neurologie zeigt sich aber auch in einem differenzierteren Verständnis neurologischer Erkrankungen, beispielsweise wissen wir heute, dass es nicht „den“ Morbus Parkinson gibt, der bei allen Patienten gleich zu behandeln ist, sondern verschiedene Erscheinungsformen, die unterschiedlicher Therapieansätze bedürfen. Unser Fach wird also komplexer – aber auch noch spannender!
