Description

Waistline is a calorie counter and weight tracker that allows you to keep a diary of the food you eat and track variations in your weight.

All data is kept on your device, it's never shared with a server or uploaded to the "cloud" (unless you want to upload data to Open Food Facts) but it can be exported or imported easily when needed.

The app includes a barcode scanner that connects to the Open Food Facts database to pull in product information.

Best of all this app respects your freedom, data, and privacy. It is entirely free/libre and open source. The source code is available on GitHub - https://github.com/davidhealey/waistline

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

2 ★I wanted to move away from MyFitnessPal and use a FOSS alternative, but this has a number of problems making it a poor replacement. It reset my settings and lost my entries twice in a short period of time. It cannot search OFF entries. This isn't the fault of Waistline but I also had so many problems just trying to make an account on OFF (they blocked all Zoho addresses, app crashes frequently, contributions disappear, other UI bugs) that this just isn't worth the hassle.
4 ★I might have missed it, but there doesn't seem to be any way to change the title of quick add entries. It would be useful to note what was consumed instead of having 'Calories - NaN Quick Add' for everything.
1 ★Non functional app. The diary feature doesn't seem to be able to change serving size, and otherwise is difficult to use. Keeps stats well, but without a good data entry system, useless
5 ★Really good food tracker - and it's open source! Thanks!!
5 ★Excellent app with a very clean interface. Easy to use and decent configuration.
2 ★The integration with open food facts currently appears to be broken, which renders the app almost entirely unusable for food logging
1 ★Very muddley and hard to use so unonstalled.
5 ★A free open source calorie counter, what more can you ask for?
5 ★Great project, thanks.
5 ★foss exports uses OFF
5 ★A free open source calorie counting app with no ads or subscription fee upsells. Ui is clean and runs well
