Catalunya no és cap república, pera la Catalunya republicana existeix. És una realitat objectiva des de l’1 d’octubre del 2017, quan més de dos milions de ciutadans van apostar legítimament per un nou estatus polític per al país, una voluntat ratificada sense cap ombra de il•llegalitat de manera majoritària a les urnes imposades per l’Estat espanyol el 21 de desembre.La Catalunya republicanana és una aposta d’organització política però, sobretot, és fruit d’una mentalitat i d’una tradició cívica i cultural que té en la voluntat popular, en la lliure expressió de les idees i en la convivència pacífica els seus pilars fonamentals. I, naturalment, el rebuig a una monarquia que no només és una institució anacrònica per definició, sinó que avui a Catalunya representa i defensa exactament el contrari dels preceptes republicans.
És en aquest ambient ideològic que neix La República. Un setmanari de trobada per al republicanisme normalitzat. Una eina de debat sobre un país en construcció. Una publicació que pretèn reforçar la normalització de Catalunya com marc de referència política i construir espais de sobirania mediàtica.
La República és un setmanari que tracta sobre el nou país, posant un accent especial en l’actualitat política. Però també assumeix les funcions de dominical, o de revista de cap de setmana, sense renunciar per tant a d’altres continguts relacionats amb disciplines que tenen a veure amb la cultura, la ciència, l’oci o l’entreteniment. Una revista normal per a una república normal.
