Description
1998 war ein ernstes Jahr. Deutschland kassierte im WM-Viertelfinale gegen Kroatien drei Tore und schied aus. Der 1. FC Köln, der sich bis dahin immer irgendwie gerettet hatte, stieg zum ersten Mal in die Zweite Liga ab. Und ein Haufen engagierter Kölner Sportstudenten beschloss, einen Fußball-Verein zu gründen und damit die vorher genannten Fußball-Katastrophen zu missachten.An der Deutschen Sporthochschule Köln (und an den Theken dieser Stadt) verbreitete sich die Kunde der Vereinsgründung rasch, schnell waren begeisterte Spieler gefunden. Angesteckt von so viel Enthusiasmus wagte auch eine fußballverrückte junge Studentin die Herausforderung anzunehmen und kurz vor Saisonstart eine Damenmannschaft auf die Bein zu stellen. Es funktionierte. Mit viel Herzblut und noch mehr Idealismus starteten beide Mannschaften von Vorwärts Spoho ´98 e.V. in die Saison 1998/99.
Zur Saison 2010/2011 gründete der Verein seine eigene Jugendabteilung und ging mit zunächst einer E-Jugend an den Start. Schnell zeigte sich, dass die gute Arbeit der Trainer auf viel Gegenliebe stößt und es meldeten sich viele neue fußballbegeisterte Kinder im Verein an. Mittlerweile umfasst Vorwärts Spoho ca. 20 Jugendmannschaften!
Weihnachten 2014 ist Vorwärts Spoho der erste Amateurverein im Kreis Mittelrhein, der eine eigene App hat!
