Pondok Salam Wisata Nusantara diambil dari kata Pondok Salam yang terinspirasi dari sebuah nama kecamatan yang berada di kabupaten Purwakarta Jawa Barat. Makna Pondok Salam berasal dari kisah-kisah pada masa perjuangan kolonial Belanda yang mengatakan bahwa Pondok Salam dahulu merupakan tempat persinggahan bagi para pejuang dalam melarikan diri dari kejaran para tentara kolonial Belanda. Tempat peristirahatan ini merupakan jalur utama dari Purwakarata menuju Wanayasa yang dahulu merupakan pusat pemerintahan. Sehingga daerah ini di namakan Pondok Salam yang terdiri dari dua suku kata yaitu Pondok dan Salam, yang artinya Pondok itu tempat persinggahan dan Salam yang berarti keselamatan.
