Description
বেদ হিন্দুদের প্রাচীনতম ও পবিত্র ধর্মগ্রন্থের নাম। এর চারটি মূল অংশ রয়েছে: ঋগ্বেদ, যজুর্বেদ, সাম বেদ এবং অথর্ব বেদ। বেদ (সংস্কৃত véda वेद " জ্ঞান ") প্রাচীন ভারতে লেখা হয়েছে। তারা সংস্কৃত সাহিত্যের পুরনোতম স্তর সংগঠিত করে হিন্দুধর্মের উপর।বেদ সংখ্যায় চারটি — ঋগ্বেদ, সামবেদ, যজুৰ্বেদ ও অথর্ববেদ । এদের মধ্যে ঋগ্বেদই প্ৰধান ও সবচেয়ে প্ৰাচীন । ঋগ্বেদ দশটি মণ্ডলে বিভক্ত। প্রত্যেক মণ্ডলে অনেকগুলি করে সূক্ত আছে। প্রতি সূক্ত আবার অনেকগুলি ঋক বা মন্ত্র নিয়ে রচিত । প্ৰতি সূক্ত হচ্ছে এক বা একাধিক দেবতার উদ্দেশ্যে রচিত স্তুতি।
ঋগবেদের দশটি মন্ডলে মোট ১০,৫৫২টি ঋক্ নিয়ে ১,০২৮টি সূক্ত আছে। এদের মধ্যে অষ্টম মন্ডলের অন্তর্ভূক্ত ৮০টি ঋক নিয়ে ১১টি সূক্তকে বালখিল্য সূক্ত বলা হয়। সায়ণাচার্য এগুলিকে ঋগবেদের অন্তর্ভূক্ত বলে স্বীকার করেন না। সেই জন্য তাদের ওপর ভাষ্য রচনা করেন নি। তাদের বাদ দিয়ে ঋগবেদে সূক্ত সংখ্যা দাঁড়ায় ১,০১৭এই এবং ঋক্ সংখ্যা দাঁড়ায় ১০,৪৭২টি।
