Deltasteden worden steeds groterMondiaal trekken steeds meer mensen naar deltasteden en deze trend zet door. In 2050 leven waarschijnlijk ruim 6 miljard mensen in een stad die gelegen is binnen een straal van 200 kilometer van een oceaan. Deze steden zijn historisch gezien met elkaar verbonden en spelen een rol in wereldwijde handel en stromen van goederen. Hoe zorgen we ervoor dat deze gigantische steden droog, leefbaar, duurzaam en veilig blijven? Want 80% van deze steden is kwetsbaar voor aardbevingen en 60% wordt bedreigd door stormvloeden en tsunami’s. Wat is de rol van Nederlandse ingenieurs en hoe passen wij onze kennis toe in lokale buitenlandse omstandigheden?
Tijdens het KIVI Jaarcongres Delta Cities op 12 november op de TU Delft kijken we onder meer naar ruimtelijke ordening, circulaire economie, waterbouw en slimme ICT-oplossingen.
