Description

We wrote this app to connect our Nexus Player to the company wifi. (WPA EAP / IEEE 802.1X / WPA Enterprise / Cisco Radius Network)
We guess it could be useful for developers, companies and schools using an Android TV device in an enterprise wifi.

At this time the Nexus Player Settings in Android 5 do not show any GUI to connect to Enterprise Wifis. Nevertheless the functionality is inside the device and since API 18 can be accessed in any Android App.

It works fine for us with Identity, Password, PEAP and MSCHAPv2. (Any other configurations remain untested.)

Questions & Answers

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?

A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.

Q: What are Android App permissions?

A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

User's Reivew

1 ★Does not work unfortunately. Might be a certificate error. (you cannot chose how / whether to validate the certificate). It connects but shows "no internet". User interface horrible in combination with Android TV Remote app. :/
5 ★Worked very well on my school's wifi, but an error with the wifi caused my system to lock up, and I had to do a system restore. Worked well regardless.
3 ★I have been using this to connect my Shield to my university's enterprise Wi-Fi. This works, and I'm happy, but there's a few issues. I really want to see this be a good app and it falls flat in terms of user experience. * Annoying toasts - There are too many toasts. The "Wi-Fi Not Connected!" message pops up too many times and provides no value. * Lag - I notice a fair amount of jank throughout the device whenever I start the app. The lag ends soon after I exit the app. Are some things on the UI thread that shouldn't? * Cache - Sometimes Wi-Fi doesn't automatically reconnect on boot. Maybe not your fault, but I need to return to the app. Every time I must re-enter the same credentials, and the TV keyboard isn't great. I'd like to save profiles so I can easily access past credentials. * UI - The color scheme isn't attractive, and it's sometimes hard to see what item is being focused toward the bottom. Is the Connect button in focus? I need to look really carefully to find out. * Auto-field population - My phone can detect enterprise Wi-Fi and connect without manually entering the SSID or other attributes. Can the SSID field be a spinner with suggestions?
5 ★Perfect!
