الرواية في منتهى العبقرية مليئة بالتشويق إلى حدّ آخر كلمة فيها. قدر أن يجمع الكاتب ببراعة بين الكتابة البوليسية والألغاز التي كانت في إطار التشويق والرعب الدموي والنفسي اللذين أضافا إلى القصة رونقا خاصا جدا. الرواية تعمّقت في خبايا النفس إلى درجة كبيرة، خبايا النفس البشري التي لا أحد يعرف عنها حاجة ظهر جزء منها هنا . الرواية تتعمق في النفس البشرية وتترك أثرا كبيرا في النفس وستغير تفكيرك في أشياء كثيرة.الجزار هي رواية للمؤلف حسن الجندي الذي يدعوه البعض بكاتب الرعب المصري وذلك لتخصصه في الكتابة عن الرعب، غلاف الرواية من الخارج كان مزيج من البساطة والعنف وهو مناسب لأحداث الرواية الداخلية التي حملت في طياتها الكثير من الدلالات الخفية والعبارات التي تحتمل معنيين.. كتب على الغلاف من الخارج رواية رعب وهي عبارة بالرغم من غرابتها إلا أنها تجذب القارئ نحوها قليلاً وكأنها تنفرد بشيء ما، عندما ستفتح الرواية تجد عبارة غريبة (الانتقام وجبة يفضل أن تقدم باردة) وهي تعود لمثل إنجليزي قديم، أما عندما تتغلغل داخل أحداث الرواية ستجد صدق هذه العبارة.
