Kitab Ghayatul Wushul merupakan sebuah kitab Ushul Fiqh yang cukup populer di kalangan ilmuan Islam di Indonesia, baik di kalangan dayah/pesantren maupun lainnya. Kitab ini merupakan hasil karya ulama besar dalam Mazhab Syafi’i, yaitu Syaikh Islam Zakariya al-Anshari (826-926 H), lahir di Kairo dan pernah belajar di Al-Azhar Kairo. Di Dayah Aceh, umumnya kitab ini di ajarkan pada kelas tingkatan V, VI dan VII. Berdasarkan pengalaman kami pada saat belajar di dayah/pesantren, kitab Ghayatul Wushul ini dianggap sebuah kitab yang tidak mudah dipahami, mengingat disamping isinya memang masalah-masalah yang berat, juga bahasanya cukup singkat dan padat, sehingga dalam memahaminya membutuhkan seperangkat ilmu bantu lainnya, sedangkan memahami isi kitab tersebut merupakan suatu keharusan bagi orang-orang yang mau mempelajari ushul fiqh dan fiqh. Sebagaimana pengikut mazhab Asy’ari lainnya, dalam beberapa masalah, pengarang kitab ini dalam melakukan kajiannya dipengaruhi oleh metode dan istilah-istilah ilmu kalam, misalnya saat membahas mengenai devinisi hukum.
