IMPORTANT ** As modern mobile phones now include complex noise cancelling algorithms, it's becoming more difficult for Nuisance Noise Recorder to operate well in all conditions, to this end we will be releasing a remote battery powered Microphone linked by Bluetooth and or Wi-Fi to monitor ambient levels and record these level to a database, some time in the near future, if you are interested in this feature please email me**
Nuisance Noise Recorder is a simple app designed to automatically record noise over a set limit.
Nuisance Noise Recorder is a great app for both proving or even disproving nuisance noise.
Nuisance Noise Recorder is not designed to be voice dictation app or covert security app that records conversations in the background while displaying something else on the screen.
Nuisance Noise Recorder will run for as long as you leave the app on the screen and leave it listening to record whatever events occur above the set Decibel Level.
This application requires that is is left on and visible on the screen when running.
Nuisance Noise Recorder will pause listening when a call comes in and resume once the call has finished.
How to use Nuisance Noise Recorder...
Run the app and watch the Decibel Values, when the target noise occurs see what Decibel Value it occurs at and set the software a few points below.
You can set what obstructions there are to the target noise like Brick/Concrete Walls, Wooden Flooring, Open Window & Fence-Line etc.
You can set the approx. distance to the target noise.
When you start the app listening, it uses your GPS to get a Latitude & Longitude position fix, this is recorded to the database along with any sound files.
The app will record 30 second segments when the decibel level exceeds the value you set the limit to.
The events that occur can be reviewed over a daily basis, set the date and all events will be sown in two 12 hour clocks (AM & PM) each sound file can be played back (even removed if required)
The app can compress all the sound files for a specified date along with a CSV of all the events into a zip folder that can be transferred to a PC or uploaded to your Dropbox or G-Drive as required.
The Export feature requires an in-app purchase to create the zip file. (ONLY purchase if you are happy with the recordings!!)
The sound files are standard WAV files and will play in Windows desktop and android devices, the CSV will open in any text editor or MS Excel.
This app has been tested with external mic connected to the 3.5 Audio Jack.
Android only allows use of one microphone at a time and will use the external mic if detected, other wise it will use the internal mic!
Please note, not all audio extension cables support mic input, ensure you obtain 4 pole. some phones will NOT work with extension cables due to impedance issues.

3 ★A good app that does what it says. But it would be a good idea if the screen could sleep whilst the app was running, as leaving it on kills the battery, as does the requirement to enable GPS. Also, the free version is essentially useless given that you MUST pay to be able to export and use any recorded samples.
3 ★Quite a good app from the start but cant get it to stay on longer than 20mins on 50Db settings? Not good when you dont know exactly the time when the noise is loud enough to record? Probably phones to blame? Pity, will have its uses but hence a 3
1 ★Straight up doesn't work. I set the threshold to 5 and screamed. It didn't even register. Garbage.
1 ★Absolute trash. It registered a stand fan in another room as 31 to 35, but didn't hear the loud banging on the other side of the wall. I even stood and watched it not get it. Should be negative stars. Trust the 1 star reviews. I didn't and wasted time and multiple nights.

1 ★The purpose of the app is to record sound events which are louder than a set decibel threshold. When comparing the decibel levels stated in the app with very similar decibel levels recorded from other apps Nuisance Noise Recorder states that the decibel levels it recorded are roughly half level that were recorded by 3 other apps I was using to compare applications. Nuisance Noise Recorder appears to provides no value to the user. Worse yet, it confuses the situation by giving false assurances such as stating that harmful levels of sound exposure are well within healthy noise levels.
3 ★I paid $0.99 to use file export but it keeps asking to purchase it again. Please help! Can you make the app keep recording with the screen off? Question to the answer below: Do I have to pay $0.99 for each day I export? If that is the case, please refund me $0.99 I payed. I intended to purchase the feature of exporting data. And you need to update the description of the app and specify that $0.99 is per export date.

4 ★all is working on htc e8. But low limit value for 40 db is too much - i could save only very loud noise. abd what for it demands gps to be on? it wastes battery
