Las Directivas Estructurales surgen de la necesidad de consolidar la información correspondiente a la nueva estructura del Ejército Nacional de Colombia, ajustar su funcionalidad a la reciente reorganización de la fuerza, facilitar y optimizar el uso de los recursos, estandarizando los diferentes procesos y procedimientos.El principal esfuerzo se constituyó en la recopilación de archivos documentos y órdenes, los cuales una vez recolectados, se sometieron a un proceso de revisión, análisis y comparación que permitió a los equipos de trabajo la depuración, filtro y selección de las políticas de la fuerza.
Una vez establecidas las políticas se inicia una segunda fase, el diseño y elaboración de las nuevas directivas del Ejército Nacional, trabajo que se complementó con la elaboración de las fichas técnicas para una mayor facilidad de consulta.
