Description

RTAB-Map (Real-Time Appearance-Based Mapping) is an Open Source RGB-D Graph-Based SLAM approach based on an incremental appearance-based loop closure detector. The loop closure detector uses a bag-of-words approach to determinate how likely a new image comes from a previous location or a new location. When a loop closure hypothesis is accepted, a new constraint is added to the map's graph, then a graph optimizer minimizes the errors in the map. A memory management approach is used to limit the number of locations used for loop closure detection and graph optimization, so that real-time constraints on large-scale environnements are always respected.

How to install RTAB-Map APK on Android phone or tablet?

Download RTAB-Map APK file from ApkClean, then follow these steps:

Update Phone Settings

  • Go to your phone Settings page
  • Tap Security or Applications (varies with device)
  • Check the Unknown Sources box
  • Confirm with OK

Go to Downloads

  • Open Downloads on your device by going to My Files or Files
  • Tap the APK file you downloaded (com.introlab.rtabmap-v0.18.0-ApkClean.apk)
  • Tap Install when prompted, the APK file you downloaded will be installed on your device.

Q: What is an APK File?

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.

Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?

A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading).
As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.

5 ★It works perfectly fine for point cloud generation. But when it comes to generating texture maps the loop closure becomes tricky. Would love to see an update with results that could match photogrammetry technique. And it can be a paid app !!! Great work guys and hats off to the ones solving those mathematical hurdles

4 ★When it works, it's pretty magical. I'm trying to use it for work (engineering co) and it is currently too unreliable to use in the field. When files get over 100mb or so it crashes. Can't wait for this platform to mature a bit and gain stability. In the meantime, this is a very impressive start.
5 ★Absolutely fascinating with the Lenovo Phab. I quickly walked around the office creating a map and everyone I showed it to was amazed. Now part of it is the device but feedback loop the app gives is the best I've seen so far. I need to dig deeper on the outputs and how they can be used but it's almost magical.
4 ★Amazing App! The capture process works good and switching to point cloud makes the model easier to render in realtime. Unfortunately I experienced many crashes on "save" and "export". Only very small maps resulted in a successful file saved. I'm on Lenovo Phab 2 pro with android 6.0.1, last version of tango core and RTAB-Map. I'm a caver and I'm very interested in natural cave mapping, I've made some tests (even in poor illuminated environment) which produced very nice captures but also very large maps and the software always crashed on save/export losing all the data. I hope these problems will be fixed in future. I am available to serve as tester to help when needed. Can't wait to successfully save a map and upload it online to show it to my colleagues and friends. A few feat. requests for the future: - Remember previous session settings - Recognizable Icons to quick change rendering or capture settings - Show/hide backfaces - Completely shut down tango when viewing to save battery - Every kind of battery-saving improvement possible. - Ability to upload the file on sketchfab on the fly. (i know this is not a priority but would be great for non professional)
5 ★A truly fantastic app!
4 ★Last update corrected the axis/orientation issues. Able to fully capture, save and export now with good results! Does a great job of keeping everything aligned when scanned areas overlap. Love the ability to switch views/perspective while scanning/capturing. Very close to 5 stars with a little more performance and stability tweaking, solid 4.5 right now. Very cool!
5 ★Texturing was great . 1:when the map get too large (about 1300 MB in ram :debug show) Rtab apk had been shooting down .2:even medium map can't export to obj. 3:Is there any way to post processing bundle adjustment work better or mesh stick together properly? Thanks for your consideration!
3 ★I've started testing this by scanning a room in natural light however the results are smudged as in the obj creates a stretched or spikey environment, maybe I'm moving my tango too quickly, I'm not sure. I used the beta of Phi 3d with 2 week license, you may want to check out, it displays warnings if conditions aren't right or moving too quickly, with that app I managed to get a reasonable 360 scan of a large cushion (combining two halves later).

5 ★Looks awesome! Just got my tango tablet and would love to give this a try. I get a "failed to connect to tango!" message on startup. I've got the tablet latest OTA .. any ideas? thanks
