Description
獸醫教學醫院的主要任務是對內提供獸醫學系學生臨床實習場所，同時對外提供民眾之動物醫療服務。本院並備有九人座出診車兩部，配合醫院全體臨床教師，不定期巡迴中南部地區經濟動物(牛、羊、豬、雞、鴨等)牧場及養鹿場之醫療服務。除了與各牧場建教合作外，本院更義務為台中市世界聯合保護動物保護協會之流浪動物舉行定期之診療，亦為台灣動物保護之活動建立了正面的形象。為使本院之任務更多元化及應業界的要求，特別開設觀賞鳥類之特別門診。另外，受行政院農業委員會動植物防疫檢驗局新竹分局委託，本院為中正機場進口之犬貓執行隔離檢疫手續，以防止海外動物傳染病侵入台灣 。本院目前的規模及人員編制如下；在小動物科內，除了編制的4名獸醫師，另有2名約聘醫師、2名住院醫師、4名事務相關人員，1名調劑員及3名檢驗技術人員外，其他全由獸醫學院相關臨床老師25名兼任，進行醫院醫療業務。
