In de applicatie Receptprijs zijn in principe alle middelen opgenomen die als geneesmiddel zijn geregistreerd en die in de openbare apotheek verkrijgbaar zijn, aangevuld met specialistische middelen, die voor de kosten van het gebruik in het ziekenhuis apart kunnen worden gedeclareerd (add-on geneesmiddelen).De applicatie Receptprijs is een product van Zorginstituut Nederland. Receptprijs is in 2012 ontwikkeld op initiatief van het ministerie van Volksgezondheid, Welzijn en Sport (VWS) en de Federatie Medisch Specialisten (FMS), tot 1 januari 2015 de Orde van Medisch Specialisten, met als doel de specialist een instrument te bieden voor het doelmatig voorschrijven van geneesmiddelen. Begin 2015 heeft Zorginstituut Nederland, op verzoek van de FMS, de uitgave van de applicatie overgenomen.
Receptprijs bevat actuele informatie over de prijs, de vergoedingsstatus en mogelijke alternatieven van geneesmiddelen.
De informatie is afgestemd met www.medicijnkosten.nl en vormt een aanvulling op de praktische informatie en adviezen over geneesmiddelen in het Farmacotherapeutisch Kompas, beiden ook producten van Zorginstituut Nederland.
