De P.O.E.P. app is een medisch hulpmiddel dat momenteel onderdeel uitmaakt van wetenschappelijk onderzoek (‘investigational device’). Hiermee kan de app alleen geïnstalleerd worden met een code.Personalized Obstipation Evaluation Program
De app is onderdeel van het ‘Personalized Obstipation Evaluation Program’ (P.O.E.P.).
Dit programma heeft de volgende functies:
1. Met de P.O.E.P. app kunnen patiënten zelf hun ontlasting bijhouden. Hiervoor maakt de patiënt een keuze uit een van de zeven stoeltypes van de Bristol Stoelgangschaal die het best past bij de eigen ontlasting. Elke ontlasting kan in de app vastgelegd worden. Daarmee krijgt de patiënt een overzicht van de eigen ontlastingen in het verloop van tijd.
2. Apothekers en andere zorgverleners kunnen bij verstrekken van een opioïde (of een ander geneesmiddel met risico op obstipatie) met de patiënt een periode afspreken. De patiënt kan desgewenst vanuit de app een vervolgconsult aanvragen.
Een goed moment voor een vervolgconsult met de verstrekkende zorgverlener is wanneer de patiënt een melding ontvangt van de app. Deze melding wordt afgegeven door de app indien de patiënt twee dagen achtereen stoelgangtypes ‘1’ of ‘2’, of geen stoelgang heeft geregistreerd. Zo herinnert de app de patiënt eraan om een vergeten ontlasting alsnog in te voeren.
Indien er wel tekenen van obstipatie zijn, faciliteert de app het versturen van een e-mail naar het e-mailadres van de zorgverlener voor een verzoek tot een vervolgconsult.
3. De registraties van ontlastingen, eventuele meldingen en mailcontact met zorgverleners worden geanonimiseerd en versleuteld opgeslagen in de beveiligde dataomgeving van het Leids Universitair Medisch Centrum (LUMC). Deze gegevens worden gebruikt voor wetenschappelijk onderzoek. Dit onderzoek is nodig om de P.O.E.P. app te registreren als medisch hulpmiddel volgens de actuele wetgeving. Voor de opslag van de gegevens dient de patiënt hiervoor toestemming in de app te verlenen. De patiënt kan de app voor de eerste twee functies ook zonder deze toestemming gebruiken.
