NIKKOの星空アプリはリアルタイムな日光の星空を再現するアプリです。星や星座、惑星の詳しい情報も宙にかざすだけで、すぐに知ることができます。
古代より人々は日光と足尾の山々に何かを認めて、この地を目指しました。その中の一人が日光開山の僧、勝道上人（しょうどうしょうにん）だったのでしょう。食とぼしく過酷な風土にもかかわらず、人々はこの地にこだわり神社やお寺を築き、祈りと修行の霊場としました。とある学者が、諸民族の神話はすべて天と地の、言葉を変えれば、星々と人間の交流の物語であると言っております。もしそうだとすれば、天に通じる日光の地に、人々は星を散りばめたのかもしれません。
◎オリオン座と日光の社寺
世界遺産日光の社寺（しゃじ）が鎮座（ちんざ）する山内（さんない）は、１６３４年から徳川３代将軍家光によって大改造されましたが、日光二荒山神社本社（にっこうふたらさんじんじゃほんしゃ）を３歩北の方へ移動させた意味不明の工事を行いました。しかし、オリオン座という視点からその意図が見えてきました。オリオン座の中で最も目立つ重要な星は、二つの１等星とオリオンの三ツ星です。これらに対応する建造物が、１等星の位置に本宮神社（ほんぐうじんじゃ）と滝尾神社（たきのおじんじゃ）、さらに「三つ星」の中心星の位置に日光二荒山神社本殿（にっこうふたらさんじんじゃほんでん）、次に「三つ星」のうち、外側の二つの星の位置には、日光東照宮奥社宝塔（にっこうとうしょうぐうおくしゃほうとう）と家光廟大猷院奥院宝塔（いえみつびょうたいゆういんおくいんほうとう）で、家康と家光の墓となります。意味不明の工事は、より完璧なオリオン座にするための微調整だったのかもしれません。
では、なぜオリオン座なのか。皆様、神門（カムド）をご存じでしょうか。神の門と書き天と地を結ぶ扉とも言われています。流れ星は、神が扉を開けた時の木洩れ日です。世界遺産日光の社寺が鎮座する山内（さんない）にオリオン座を形成することで、日光は江戸幕府にとって祈りの場、だったのでしょう。
