L'app "Pisan Hills Survival", dall'inglese "Sopravvivere sui Monti Pisani", nasce dall'esigenza di un gruppo di colleghi, appassionati di trail, nell'avere a portata di smartphone l'indicazione di punti ristoro naturali durante le proprie uscite, nella fattispecie fontanelle di acqua potabile, su una mappa consultabile dei sentieri dei Monti Pisani, potendo scoprire ogni volta nuovi percorsi senza rimanere a bocca asciutta unendo sport, curiosità e libertà, tra natura e sudore.Per gli escursionisti sono attivabili sulla mappa, con un click, i punti in cui trovare chiese, santuari e ville storiche.
Per rendere l'app ancora più funzionale, con il contributo dei trailer di zona, la mappa verrà mano a mano arricchita con ulteriori punti di interesse come rifugi, segnaletiche e molto altro che possa permettere anche all'esploratore più inesperto di... sopravvivere sui Monti Pisani.
L'app è un derivato di un progetto chiamato mappadeimontipisani.org realizzato attraverso una campagna di crowdfunding e l'impegno di diversi sostenitori. Agli autori di tale progetto va tutto il merito del lavoro di mappatura dei sentieri nonchè gran parte della logica di sviluppo dell'app.
Da tale progetto derivano anche i POI relativi a chiese, santuari e ville storiche.
