This keyboard is useful if you have an external bluetooth keyboard paired with your phone and you want to stop the on-screen keyboard from popping up all the time.
To use, go in to keyboard settings and enable null keyboard, and then pick it as your input method. No keyboard should appear until you change it back.
NOTE: Samsung galaxy tabs running the latest android have an issue where the keyboard is frequently switched back to the on-screen keyboard. As far as I can tell, a fix for this needs to come from samsung, not from me. Even if it's something I can fix on my end, without a tab to test on, there's no way I'm going to be able to figure out what it is.

A: Just like Windows (PC) systems use an .exe file for installing software, Android does the same. An APK file is the file format used for installing software on the Android operating system.
Q: If I install an APK from this website, will I be able to update the app from the Play Store?
A: Yes, absolutely. The Play Store installs APKs it downloads from Google's servers, and sideloading from a site like ApkClean.net goes through a very similar process, except you're the one performing the downloading and initiating the installation (sideloading). As soon as the Play Store finds a version of the app newer than the one you've sideloaded, it will commence an update.
Q: Why ApkClean.net can guarantee APK 100% safe?
A: Whenever someone wants to download an APK file from ApkClean.net, we'll check the corresponding APK file on Google Play and allow user download it directly (of course, we'll cache it on our server). If the APK file does not exist on Google Play, we'll search it in our cache.
Q: What are Android App permissions?
A: Apps require access to certain systems within your device. When you install an application, you are notified of all of the permissions required to run that application.

4 ★Exactly what I needed. Most text editors are best used in landscape mode, but the keyboard takes up half the screen. So I dug up an old OTG adapter, plugged in a spare keyboard and.. the virtual keyboard still hogs the screen. Installed Null Keyboard, selected it as input, connected my physical keyboard and suddenly oceans of screen real estate.
5 ★This app does not collect data. That warning is the default Android warning when you install ANY input method. This app wouldn't be able to do anything even if it collected data. It has no permissions to save to SD, access internet, so it would have no way to do anything with that data. And with a size of 18kb, there definitely isn't enough code in this to mine data. Stop being paranoid.
5 ★For samsung tablets (owner of galaxy 10 inch) you must activate the null keyboard in the language and input settings. Once this is complete go into a text field. When the keyboard pops up hold down the keyboard icon in the task tray (bottom of the tablet screen) a small menu will pop up... select null keyboard. Note that the thumb keyboard may have to be selected prior to nulling from the task bar to prevent a obtrusive black screen cut-off.
3 ★When switching from a virtual keyboard to Null Keyboard, it leaves a grey rectangle where the virtual keyboard was, taking up half the screen and not working properly until I quit and restart the app. Could use this fix, which would make this free app perfect!
4 ★When I used Shift 2 and Shift 3 on the Toshiba Wireless Keyboard with the Samsung Galaxy Tab Tablet it printed " and the English pound signs respectively. On using the Null Keyboard these shift keys returned the correct signs of @ and # respectivly. Great stuff.
4 ★Even after setting up a bluetooth keyboard and this app, if the keyboard times out, the Samsung device defaults to an onscreen keyboard so it's quite annoying. TIP: If you don't want the black box on the bottom, change your keyboard through Settings rather than the keyboard icon on the bottom. Wish device was smart enough to detect bluetooth connection is a keyboard so onscreen doesn't pop up. Not the fault of the developers, just so you know what to expect on the Galaxy Note 10.1
5 ★I recently purchased a bluetooth keyboard for my Note 10.1 and it was behaving strangely. I could not press the number keys, it would only press the symbols linked to those numbers, like the "@" linked with the "2". After I installed this, everything is working like a charm!!
5 ★I had a frustrating issue using my tablet with a keyboard because I just wanted to not have a keyboard on the screen because I had an external one to use, so there was no point! It just took up screen real estate. I did a quick search on here and this came up. Lo and behold this was the answer to my poblem. So glad this exists!
5 ★This problem was driving me insane but thanks to you I have recovered my insanity and can live a normal life – cheers. Does what it says on the tin and works a treat.
5 ★A LIFESAVER! I thought I was going to lose my mind before I installed this app. Why the eff doesn't Android have this functionality built in? I mean, when you hook up an external keyboard you DON'T want the on--screen keyboard popping up. That's the WHOLE POINT of attaching a hardware keyboard. Thank you so much for making this app. Seriously you're my hero. FOR THE PARANOID CONSPIRACY THEORISTS OUT THERE -- the permissions questions HAVE TO BE ASKED because the program is TECHNICALLY still a keyboard. Install ANY keyboard app and you'll see the same questions. A keyboard app HAS TO COLLECT YOUR KEYBOARD INPUTS. Read a book
5 ★It's a shame that devs have to make stuff like this, instead of Google or the individual manufactorers realizing that it's a problem and fixing it themselves. Either way, thanks for thinking of this and doing it! Others in the future will hate me for saying this, but I would've paid $1 or something for this...
5 ★The app is perfect for those using a bluetooth keyboard, and who are being driven crazy everytime the on-screen keyboard pops up when you click in a text field. It also seems to add more PC-like functionality, by including quite a few hotkeys. Text input is flawless, and very quick. Can pretty much transform a tablet with a dock into a small netbook :) enjoy
