A Rede de Observadores do Medio Mariño Galego (Redogal) pretende ser unha ferramenta para o seguimento e vixilancia da vida mariña de Galicia. As condicións do medio mariño sofren continuos cambios xa sexan naturais ou antropoxénicos, inducidos polo home. Os seres vivos actúan como bioindicadores destes cambios dos ecosistemas, polo que é necesario establecer unha rede de seguimento e vixilancia da vida mariña utilizando como ferramenta o concepto de “Ciencia cidadá”.Calquera persoa de forma anónima ou ben rexistrándose pode reportar avistamentos desde a aplicación., Para iso, debe acceder a "Reportar avistamento", e encher o formulario dispoñible, cos datos que se solicitan. Os avistamentos recibidos serán revisado polos expertos e, no seu caso, engadidos ao mapa de avistamentos.
Ademais, dispón dos apartados de "Guía de especies" onde poderá consultar algunhas fichas de especies coa súa descrición e os avistamentos xeolocalizados desas especies, novas de interese relacionadas co proxecto, ránking onde se amosará unha listaxe das persoas e o número de avistamentos, información útil con recomendacións sobre como realizar as fotografías ou conservar un exemplar, e de selo caso, o modo de achegalo ao persoal experto. Así mesmo, pode recibir notificacións cando se produce un novo avistamento, se engade unha nova e tamén enviar consultas.
No caso de persoas rexistradas terá acceso á sección "Os meus avistamentos", onde poderá visualizar os avistamentos que enviou e coñecer cal é posición que ocupa no ránking.
