La mostra ospitata presso il Salone degli Incanti di Trieste è dedicata al genio olandese Maurits Cornelius Escher: un artista riservato, inquieto e indubbiamente geniale che ha creato nelle sue celebri incisioni e litografie un mondo unico, immaginifico , impossibile, dove confluiscono arte, matematica, scienza, fisica e design.L’esposizione - divisa in 8 sezioni - racconta il genio olandese attraverso circa 200 opere tra cui troviamo le più iconiche della sua produzione come: Mano con sfera riflettente (1935), Vincolo d’unione (1956), Metamorfosi II (1939) e la serie degli Emblemata.
Questa App - come il percorso di mostra - parte dalle opere di impronta art-nouveau risalenti al periodo della formazione presso la scuola di Jessurun de Mesquita, arrivando a porre l’accento sul periodo del viaggio in Italia, paese in cui Escher visse con la sua famiglia per molti anni e che visitò da nord a sud rappresentandolo in molte delle sue opere.
Particolarità della mostra triestina è la sezione con la serie I giorni della Creazione esposta per la prima volta al mondo: si tratta di un nucleo di sei xilografie realizzate tra dicembre del 1925 e marzo del 1926 e che racconta i primi sei giorni della Creazione del Mondo.
Questa App - che si compone di un percorso standard costituito da 23 punti di interesse e di un percorso interamente dedicato ai bambini - racconta e analizza quindi i principali elementi della produzione di Escher - artista poliedrico e contemporaneo del suo tempo - che fu però capace di anticipare intere correnti artistiche come delle del Surrealismo e della Optical Art. Egli infatti non trovò solo nel mondo dei numeri, della geometria e della matematica l’unica chiave per dar forma al suo universo creativo ma attinse a piene mani ai vari linguaggi fondendoli in un nuovo intrigante percorso.
Escher, in questo senso, può quindi considerarsi un unicum nel panorama della storia dell’arte di tutti i tempi che emoziona sempre il grande pubblico.
