VLC media player is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player that plays most multimedia files as well as discs, devices, and network streaming protocols.
This is a BETA version of the port of VLC media player to the Android™ platform. It plays both audio and video.
It is intended for everyone, but this version is not perfectly stable.
It is still a beta, so it might kill your kitten or destroy your house, but it should be mostly fine now.
Use it at your own risk. Have fun! :)

VLC for Android™ plays most local video and audio files, as well as network streams (including adaptive streaming), DVD ISOs, like the desktop version of VLC.
VLC for Android has a media library for audio and video files, and allows to browse folders directly.
VLC has support for multi-track audio and subtitles. It supports auto-rotation, aspect-ratio adjustments and gestures to control volume and brightness.
It also includes a widget for audio control, supports audio headsets control, cover art and a complete audio media library.

VLC for Android 1.0.0This release fixes ARMv8 processors, Android 5.0 crashes and minor improvements.
The 0.9.x series is major release with hardware decoding and a new interface available in dark or white colors. It integrates DVD iso and menu support, an equalizer, playlist management, Widi screens support and updated SD cards detection.
Hardware acceleration is now enabled by default on 4.3+ and has better subtitles support. Software decoding has been accelerated too.

1 ★Unusable unless you do not touch the screen. Every swipe reduces the brightness to low. Even if you turn the option off, swipes still reduce brightness.
1 ★Show an error saying that I am trying to use a x86 build on a non x86 platform, while I am. That check is also useless since the pay store won't let you install incompatible apps.
1 ★Freezes my tablet (not the frigging program) the whole tablet! when trying to play a subtitled movie...I guess its made for english listening users only with no use for subs...no chinese, french, japanese movies...tsss
2 ★It have many errors and mistakes done by developers . 1) it shows all videos as single. It also doesn't play many s/w or hw+ videos correctly.I think that developers have to work hard to beat MX PLAYER(it's best one).
2 ★i had not a single issue with this app using it on my asus nemo pad 7, i played all sorts of formats without any problem but after lollipop upgrade it is unable to play random videos, sometimes .mp4 sometimes .mkv please guys help as no other app does what your app do. waiting for reply

2 ★I used to love this app on my old Nexus 7, played everything brilliantly but on my new Huddle 2 it stutters on every video. It's unusable, which is a real shame.

3 ★Update 1.0.0: All the version after 0.9.8 and the debug version after August 11 Build are buggy for first 10sec of playback for many formats such as Real Media formats. Please fix this since VLC used to play them very smoothely before. no title name shown for .RM files... Just blank... I use a lot of real media files and all i could see is a list of files without any name to identify which one is which. It now becomes a necessity to display atleast the filename to identify the file...
4 ★comparing it with MX player, I find MX has a smoother playback. VLC was stuttering after a while
1 ★i think vlc is great, use on all my machines.. but it wont work on my asus zenpad, i get crazy-long errors for any video file.
