It stopped working when NYCDOT changed their internal URIs.TrafficBuster Live New York City Traffic Cameras is a must-have app for drivers and bikers in the NYC area. Truckers, cab and livery drivers, bus drivers, commuters - even emergency vehicle drivers who have to travel in and around the 5 boroughs of New York City will benefit tremendously with this app!
This is not a cheap WebView of the NYCDOT site! This app makes PHP calls to a back-end server that culls NYCDOT camera data, filters out inactive cameras, and presents all live cameras in a very convenient customized list (array adapter for you tech junkies) - it is all native Android!
Choose by highway, bridge or borough. Select cameras along any of the available routes. Camera lists are generated when you click, giving you the most up-to-date list of working cameras. Once you are viewing a camera, images are updated as often as once per second!
If you see traffic at a stand-still along your preferred route, you can plan another route simply by viewing more cameras!
For oldest 2G mobile phones, use the 6 second refresh. Newer 3G, 4G phones or older phones on a good wi-fi connection, use the 1 or 3 second refresh. All settings are saved in local preferences.
If you like the app - give me some props (i.e. stars)! Works well on tablets and all phones. Camera images can be enlarged by stretching the image - whatever your device can handle.
