This is an unofficial android port of the PC game Battle for Wesnoth.
Battle for Wesnoth is a turn-based fantasy strategy game, featuring many addictive campaigns, lots of units, different races, AI controlled players, multiplayer gaming and much more.
On startup the game will need to download and install data from the internet, so be sure to have a good connection and free space on your device on the first run.
* Minimal difference from PC version
With the goal of making easier to follow official game releases, this port is focused on doing minimal modification to the PC game.
This means no UI changes.
Thus, to allow precise clicking even on touchscreens, a finger-dragging mouse emulation techinque is used. On startup you'll watch a small tutorial about it.
Also, the game needs a fairly good hardware to run on. At least a 800x480 screen and 512MB RAM are required and also a good cpu is suggested (700Mhz minimum).
Trackball and hardware keyboard will help interaction, but are not needed to play.
* Splitted data files
Game data files, which will be downloaded on first startup, are split into core, music, campaign and translations files. This way, you can choose to download and install only what you are interested into.
So for example if you don't care about game music you won't need to download music files, saving 140MB of download and memory.
The core download, which is 89MB, will allow you to:
- play single scenarios vs. another player or the AI
- download extras (campaigns and more) from the official server
- connecto to a game server to play network games
This port does not include server mode, so you cannot use this software to host a network game (but you can connect to one hosted somewhere else).

If your device has a very high DPI value (i.e. small screen, high resolution), game fonts may be too small to read.
To fix that, tap on "Change Configuration" button which appears for a few seconds on startup, select "Startup options" and check the "Set custom display resolution". Close the popup leaving default values (Width: 800, Height: 480).
This will force the game to 800x480 resolution, and make everything in the
screen look bigger, including fonts, and this setting will be kept for following runs.

5 ★Most likely the best turn based tactics game on android. Polished, with a stack of campaigns / missions to play. Playing on an 8" screen, I've found that dropping the resolution to 1280x800 and switching from mouse emulation to direct touch makes for a much speedier and enjoyable game (hold 3 fingers on the screen for the popular to switch this), although its perfectly playable either way.

5 ★Great port, though it's better on tablets than a smart phone. This game is an absolute classic. If it had been released by a well known dev, it would be praised as a timeless benchmark for its genre. Although, open source means it has the advantage of always adding new content because of the great modding community. If you like turn based strategy with rpg elements- GET THIS GAME.
1 ★Graphics are incredibly zoomed out on my phone and this makes the game utterly unplayable for me. Real shame since this sounds like a game I'd love. Fix that and the UI, then I'll happily revisit this.
1 ★I loved this game 2 years ago on Android. I have beat about 6 of the campaigns and I could not stop playing this game, I played online a few times to and played played online which was very cool. I am give the old version of Wesnoth a 5 stars rating because I loved the old version of this game. The controls are the problem with the new version and everything is zoomed out that you can't even play or read the story, there is even a problem with needing a keyboard on screen to play the game (the developers want you to download a app keyboard be able to play the game). It made me very upset that they changed the controls from touch screen to a mouse like computer game on the phone. I download the game every 3 months or so to see if they update it back to it's amazing Glory days but it's still bad right now. The mouse controls with touching does not work, I have tried this game out many many times and it makes me upset everytime I play it that I have to uninstall it because it's that bad of a app currently... To the developers... Please bring the old version of wesnoth back, it was a great game until you made two different apps and changed the controls and look of the app. I will give 5 stars if you make everything touchable and throw way the keyboard and be able to see the game to actually play it.

3 ★It's a great concept for a strategy game but I think the "random" outcome algorithms for the combats need improvement. I understand flukes of the "dice" but all too consistently I see situations like one single enemy on foot with nothing but a dagger or sword he's chaotic, he's out in the open field, it's midday , he has a strength and toughness of say 11-13 or so and I have him surrounded on three sides with horse mounted lawfull lancers and knights with strength of 23-25 or so and somehow none of my horseman can manage to do more than make him stub his toe as he takes the life of my two best lancers and almost kills my knight... if I wanted to play a strategy game where the house has every table stacked against you I'd go to a casino. I think it could be a little more ...realistic with the "dice rolls". I enjoyed playing the pc version and I see you've put a lot of effort and innovation to making this work on a mobile device but I feel like this one thing is crucial to making it a fun experience and it feels like the random outcome algorithm is stuck on "b^llsh!t" mode or something. Please fix.
